Mamma’s gonna hook me up!

Hello beautiful ladies! Are you having a wonderful weekend so far? Today is the gay pride parade in Stockholm so I might go and check that out since today’s agenda is looking terribly empty as of right now.

But before that, a quick update –

Mom is going to the US in a couple of weeks to visit the relatives and has offered to try to bring me home some goodies if I give her a list. Happy days! So, in order not to miss anything absolutely fabulous, I’m asking for you foodie-experts advice. I’ve read about so many wonderful things on your blogs that are available in the US but, sadly, cannot be found here in La Súede. So, please give me suggestions of great foods or other things that I shoudl ask mom to stock up on. Here are a few things I have though of so far!

1. Peanut Butter Puffins

3. Peanut Butter & Co. PB

(What flavour should I get? I’m thinking White Chocolate Wonderful or Dark Chocolate Dreams)

What else? Give me suggestions!

Thanks hot mamas!

Surf camp eats

Bonjour mes amis!

Internet is still down so I’m at the library again. We got the modem on Monday evening but it didn’t work! This exact thing happened last time our modem was shot. It’ll be another week until it’s fixed (according to the company, which means plus a couple of days or weeks). It’ll be a while before I get back to daily blogging and being able to read all your blogs again.

Now, I want to tell you about my experience with food during surf camp. As mentioned, it was in France (a.k.a the land of wonderful, gorgeous, delicious food!). I had notified the surf camp prior to my departure that I am a vegetarian, but I said I could eat fish to make things easier for them. All week long I ate proper meals and never felt deprived, I never had a thought to try to restrict or binge or anything and I felt full, satisfied and content after every single meal. For once in my life I ate completely normal and enjoyed every single bite. Most of the time I wasn’t even hungry! And I cannot tell you how wonderful it was so not have to think about food all the time.

I ate non-vegan almost every day and enjoyed delicious french cheeses, dairy yoghurt and milk, sometimes I’d have some tuna fish and one evening a coupe at the surf camp made mussel pasta, it was my first time trying mussels! Also, we were surfing every single day, sometimes twice a day and constantly moving around (carrying surfboards, walking, running, going, going, going..!) so I was able to work up a genuine apetite which was such a wonderful feeling.

I thought I’d share a couple of random foodie photos, some of them are from surf camp in France and some are just random stuff I’ve photographed since I got home.

A new breakfast I have been enjoying. Soy yoghurt (or plain yoghurt), whole grain lakes and dried fruits. And an apple on the side.

Soy yoghurt, whole grain flakes topped with dried fruits. An apple and green tea on the side.

I’ve been enjoying this for breakfast the past couple of days. While I was in France I bought a bag of mixed dried fruits to have as an easy snack to bring along or eat between meals if I got hungry. The mix I bought in France was so good I got completely obsessed with it, haha! When I got home I made sure to stock up on some dried fruits to top my breakfasts with. I also got some new breakfast foods. Eating with the whole gang in France really inspired me, we all lived like a big family and made all our meals together, it helped me a lot in understanding what healthy and good eating is.

French soft yummy nougat!

French soft yummy nougat!

I got some French nougat at the grocery store during one of the last days in France, to bring home. I downed this in no time once I got home on Saturday. This is a fraction of the piece, it was a big piece. But so good!

French breakfast yesterday morning.

"French breakfast" yesterday morning.

Yesterday morning mom ran down to the local French bakery and got some fresh bread. I had a bowl of plain dairy yoghurt with whole grain flakes and dried fruit. On the side I had a whole grain roll with a light laughing cow wedge and some cucumber. And a cup of coffee with soy milk (I drank a lot of wonderful coffee in France!)

Mussel pasta

Here’s the impressive mussel pasta we had one evening for dinner. Everyone was starving because we’d got home late from surfing and making dinner took a while so we dug in around 11pm! This was my first time trying mussels, I liked this dish but I can’t say I’m all that crazy about mussels. Seeing this picture makes me miss surf camp even more! We had such a cozy time every single evening eating dinner together out by the pool in the back of the house.

Whole wheat pasta salad with mozarella, olives, avocado, greens and greek yoghurt dressing

Whole wheat pasta salad with mozarella, olives, avocado, greens and greek yoghurt dressing

One day the girl I was sharing a room with and I made this impressive lunch. We were both so proud of it that we snapped a shot of it. In the dish was: whole wheat pasta, lettuce, tomato, basil olives, avocado, mozarella, cucumber and a scoop of greek yoghurt mixed with spices that I made as a dressing. It was a huge portion and I ate so quickly because I was so hungry, I still didn’t manage to finish it all though.

That’s all the photos I have for now, but here’s basically what I had for breakfast lunch and dinner each day at surf camp:

Breakfast: Pretty much the same every single day, a bowl of plain yoghurt (sometimes mixed with a fruit yoghurt) topped with whole grain flakes and sometimes raisins. On the side I had a big piece of fresh French baguette with a laughing cow wedge and cucumber. And I washed it all down with a nice glass of juice and sometimes a cup of tea or coffee.

Lunch: was always different, one day I just had a pure bar after surfing because I didn’t have time to get lunch. Most days we ate out and I had a pizza one day. Other days we were at the house and everyone made whatever they felt like. Sometimes I’d have a big sandwhich made with a fresh baguette and then there was the whole wheat pasta salad.

Dinner: The dinners were always great because we all made it together like a big family and enjoyed it outside by the pool. We grilled meat a couple of days and I had soy burgers then. One day we had tortelini with tomato sauce and the last evening we had tacos (I had beans instead of meat). We always had a huge lovely green salad with dinner that we sometimes put couscous in or watermelon and feta cheese. All the food was amazing.

Evening snacks: We’d have beer or wine in the evening, one evening a couple of us dished up a bunch of french cheeses and crackers along with pears and grapes. We’d bought a bunch of fun cheese at the grocery store that same day. One evening we made a big bowl of chocolate and vanilla ice cream with bananas and cookies to celebrate one of our surf teacher’s birthday. And several evenings we didn’t have anything for an evening snack because we’d had dinner so late.

I miss it so much I cannot even tell you. I want to go back right this minute! Since I got home my eating has gone down the gutter again and all I can think about is how I want to go back there where I was happy and could live life without having these food problems hanging over me.

Hope you are all doing well!

Movie star Wednesday!

Holla wonderful people! I had an awesome time last night with my best friend! She’s finally home for the summer (from studying abroad) and I’m happier than a clam this time of year when I know she’s home and we’re going to be spending a faaaaabulous summer together. The only plans that will keep up apart for a bit this summer is my one week surf trip and best friend is off to Italy for two weeks during the same time, but the rest of the summer is thus far an unwritten page of all kinds of crazy fun!

Before I tell you about all the filming business that went down last night, let me walk you through Wednesday (okay, or just scroll through my usual eats if you’re getting bored impatient).

Breakfast. Soy yoghurt, kiwi, ground flaxseed, Galia melon and green tea.

Breakfast. Soy yoghurt, kiwi, ground flaxseed, Galia melon and green tea.

After breakkie I headed down to the gym. Did my usual half hour or so on the treadmill (5.28 km) and then focused on my legs. I just have to say that I love doing the hip adduction machine (is that crazy?). I don’t know why but I just really like working those muscles. Got home and did my 100 crunches, showered and then it was time to make some lunch!

Lunch. Wrap with tofu, lettuce, cucumber and Tofutti cream cheese. Green apple and protein shake.

After lunch mom got home and had bought a bunch of huge delicious cherries. I love myself some good cherries so I quickly had three before heading out the door to go get the bikini line waxed. Now, excuse me for a moment while I… Holy mother of God! Believe it or not, this was my first time getting waxed and it hurt (duh) but the girl that did it was really friendly so it was all good. Nice to know it’s done now so I don’t have to worry about anything playing peeka-bo when I’m trying to focus on my surf!

After my hair-ripping experience, I got home and made a new batch of my mango cucumber salsa and then whipped up a Hugh Jass salad!

Dinner. In the salad: iceberg lettuce, carrot, red and yellow cherry tomatoes, cucumber, green bell pepper, veggie burger and mango cucumber salsa.

Once dinner was consumed I got dolled up for the evening. My best friend and met up an hour early to have a drink before meeting the production team to do the filming. We each had a Cidraie (my favorite apple cider).

Filming was SO much fun! Basically we were supposed to be two girls on their way out to party. We were asked to walk down this street and look in some shop windows pretending to discuss the clothes while I held a cell phone and pretended to take photos of the clothes in the window. The second scene was of the two of us standing and talking while I show my friend photos on my cell phone. It only took about an hour and the guy was super pleased with our contribution to the production. And my best friend had so much fun which made me very happy. (Just to clarify, the filming was done late in the evening and the production guy had said we should have a beer or three before because the characters were supposed to be a little tipsy.)

After filming, we decided to celebrate our fame with another drink. We went to sit at this wonderful place up high that has a beautiful view of the city. And, my brother’s friend happened to be working in the bar (yay cheap drank).

Mojito-like drank.

Mojito-like drank.

We sat and talked for a couple of hours and then called it a night! I got home around 1.30am and hit the sack.

Today is another beautiful sunny day so I’m about to go soak it up for a while and then after lunch I’m hitting the gym. This evening I’m probably meeting up with my best friend again to go and see Ice Age 3! I have also got to start packing for my surf trip!

Question of the day: What book are you reading right now?
I just got a new book this weekend to read during my trip, The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Neffenegger. I’ve heard a lot about the book and it’s supposed to be really good. I also just finished reading Let the Right One In by Johan Ajvide Lindqvist (Swedish author) that was fantastic! I definitely recommend it!

KAILEY IS HAVING A FABULOUS GIVEAWAY!
Ya’ll make sure you don’t miss out on Kailey a.k.a SnackFace fabulous giveaway to celebrate her 6th month blogiversary! Yay, congrats Kailey!

I’m not giving up on my dream to be an actress!

Hello bloggies! I’m going to let you in on a lil’ secret – I’m actually writing this on Sunday evening… but I’m going to set it to be published tomorrow (Monday) morning. That’s right, I’m totally sneaky! I wanted to let yesterday’s post sit for a while longer before overwhelming you with yet another post.

Sanyway. What went down on Sunday? Well, lemme tell you.

Breakfast. Nothing new here, but I have to say - if you havent tried soy yoghurt ever, DO! Because its really good.

Breakfast. Nothing new here, but I have to say - if you haven't tried soy yoghurt ever, DO! Because it's really good.

Had my breakfast and then went lazy for a couple of hours – blog reading/commenting, read my book, tanned for a bit and then noticed I was super hungry so I came to the conclusion that it was time for lunch.

Lunch. The usual. Wrap stuffed with tofu and greens, and a green apple on the side.

Lunch. The usual. Wrap stuffed with tofu and greens, and a green apple on the side.

After letting my lunch digest, I headed down to the gym. I did about 30 minutes on the treadmill per usual which felt wonderful up until the point where the left side of my neck started hurting like woah and the pain eventually shot down my left arm (what is that!?) Anyway, I did 5.13 kilometres today at various speeds and inclines while watching In Treatment (um… is it just me or is this show totally boring!? Maybe it’s just the combination of watching it and running on a treadmill?)

After the cardio, I focused on my legs and stomach in the weight-lifting department and did some leg exercises that I don’t know what they’re called and crunches on the stomach-crunch-machine thingy (wow, I sound like I totally got this sh!t down!) I came home sweatin’ like Cousin it on vacay in Cali but that didn’t stop me from dropping and doing an additional 100 crunches.

The sad thing in all of this gym loveliness is that once my month free membership is up, I’m not going to be able to afford to get a full membership because it’s SO expensive. This gym happens to be one of the most expensive in town. Not only is it expensive, you have to sign up for at least 12 months and commit to paying every single month for that year. So, unless I get a really high paying job, it ain’t gonna happen. The gym is so close to where I live which is so perfect I cannot even deal ya’ll. Ah, sadness…

Anyway, moving along… After the gym, mom got home from work and suggested we paddle bike to the lake nearby and go for a swim. I was still all hot and steamy (hay now!) and decided I was game! I swam some lengths in the lake for like fifteen minutes just to cool down and make sure I still know how to swim (figure it might be neccessary for surf camp and all) and then after drying in the sunshine we biked home and I made the beeest dinnuh!

Dinner. Hugh Jass salad (again!) In the magic: iceberg lettuce, cucumber, carrot, yellow and red cherry tomatoes, steamed broccoli, veggie burger and homemade mango cucumber salsa. Oh yay!

After dinner I quickly plopped down in front of the TV to watch Pushing Daisies (so cute) and simultaneously got a call from a PR and production company asking me to be in this documentary type movie they’re making. They want me to play a “Music blogger”  and act as if I am out at a nightclub taking photos and stuff for my blog. Hells to the yes I said and texted my best friend in the world to see if she could participate in some partying on Wednesday evening when we’ll be filming (they asked me to bring along a friend to party with so it would look even more “natural”). This is the same friend who I told you about before, who is studying abroad. She just happens to be coming home on Wednesday and was totally game for some partying!

After the exciting phone call and Pushing Daisies it was time for an evening snack.

Evening snack. The good stuff! Chopped up nectarine and apple, a carob covered rice cracker and a cup of blueberry tea.

And that’s it for Sunday! This week is full of busyness and excitement. Good stuff. Lots of exercising too of course and then, come Saturday, I’m off to Surf Camp in France! Ihhh, butterflies, flitter, flutter.

Question of the day: If you could choose, where would you like to go on vacation this summer?
I’m already doing one of my dream vacays this summer by going to surf camp, but I’ve also wanted to go to Italy and San Francisco forever! And of course, I always want to visit my relatives in the US like I do almost every summer (although, sadly, not this year).

Every day is ice cream day!

Holla, holla beauties! Are we having a wonderful weekend people? I hope so! Mine’s been nice so far and the weather is hot, hot, hot! What’s not to love? Thank you so much for your sweet comments to my last post about my acting adventures. I’m still high on the fun I had while filming!

It got so late last night so I was too pooped to post, so I’ll do it now instead. Here’s Saturday in a nutshell (sorta).

10:10am Breakfast. The usual soy yoghurt with ground flaxseed, kiwi and some cantaloupe and green tea on the side.

While chowing down on breakfast my little sister texted to ask if we should go for a walk to the mall and get ice cream. And who am I to say no, really? It’s a sunny day and any opportunity to eat ice cream must be taken! She’d been staying in town (she works in town and sleeps in my dads apartment in town during the weeks because it’s closer for her to get to work and thus she can sleep in) and was on her way home so when she got home we put on our walking shoes and went to the mall to get soft serve with tutti fruity sprinkles. It’s not exactly gourmet ice cream but we used to get this all the time when we were kids and have been talking about going and getting it foreva!

Soft serve ice cream with sprinkles!

After the ice cream partay I headed to the grocery store to pick up some stuff and then walked home and made lunch.

1:55pm Lunch. Wrap with Tofutti cream cheese, tofu, iceberg lettuce and cucumber. Nectarine on the side.

After lunch I jumped into my workout clothes and went down to the gym and powerwalked and ran on the treadmill for a little more than half an hour. I mostly ran and had various inclines and speeds. I did a total of 5.26km! Then I used some various machines to work on my arm muscles. I did some seated rowing, shoulder press, bicep curls, pulled ropes to do this special “paddle” exercise the surf camp suggested etc. Worked out for about an hour total and I’m feeling a nice burn in my shoulders and arms today!

When I got home I did some email checking and stuff and eventually made dinner.

5:30pm Dinner. My new favorite salad: ice berg lettuce, carrot, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, steamed broccoli, green bell pepper, veggie burger, homemade mango cucumber salsa.

I cannot believe it took me so long to start making these amazing salads! They’re so good!

After dinner I rested for a bit, watched some TV and then went down to the small local grocery store with my sister. I decided to make something nice for mom for an evening snack when she got home from work. She’d been working all day long. I called her up to ask if there was anything specific she wanted and she right away said “Your scones!” My scones are the vegan ones I make from the cookbook “Vegan with a Vengence”. So I got bakin’.

Vegan scones!

Vegan scones!

Mom got home and I dished up the scones with cream cheese and jam and made some tea. I had two scones with Tofutti cream cheese and a little bit of jam. And a cup of Celestial Seasonings honey vanilla chamomile tea. I also had three cherries (not pictured).

I don’t really know what I’m going to do today (Sunday). I’m going to go down to the gym at some point during the day, but other than that my plans are pretty much unwritten as of right now.

Question of the day: What is your favorite kind of ice cream?
I love getting scoop ice cream in different flavors, fruity and chocolate flavors are probably my favorite but it’s a tough choice. I also really love yoghurt ice cream. Despite eating soft serve with my sister today it’s definitely not a favorite of mine, it’s so bland but we had to get it for old times sake and with the sprinkles it’s good.

Mouth-to-mouth action!

Wassup wassup beauties! I haven’t posted in a couple of days, sorry about that. So let’s get crackin’! First, I have to tell you about the blast I had filming on Wednesday! It was so much fun! As mentioned, I played a dead person and we shot in a real morgue. It turned out to be less gross than I expected because there were so many wonderful people on set that made sure I was doing alright. Everyone on set kept making me crack up, I had the best time ever!

The two famous actors that were there to do the scene with me were also very friendly and kept joking around with me. It took about three and a half hours to shoot the two scenes (one where I am dead and one where they are reviving me) and I laughed so much the entire time. The scene where they were reviving me needed a bit of participation from my part. You know how you see on TV or in movies when they shock someone in a hospital scene and the body “jerks”? Well, I got to do that! And one of the famous actors did “mouth-to-mouth” resusitation on me. Haha, that was hillarious. We both cracked up like crazy at one point in the middle of the scene because it was so wierd how I just lie there completely still while he pretty much kissed me. He also did heart compressions on me and then later this other guy playing a doctor did heart compressions on me and a real nurse (who played a nurse) did heart compressions on me too. Lemme tell you, I’m still sore on my chest from all the beating, but it was so worth it! After the umpteenth time I felt like saying “Okay, okay, I’m alive already!”  I could go on forever about how much fun I had… but let’s move on to other exciting things.

My eats on Wednesday were the usual breakfast and lunch, I even had time to run to the gym for an hour before heading off to the shooting location. The filming was done around 7.30pm and they ordered food for everyone… from McDonalds! Hahaha! I haven’t eaten at McDonalds in like ten years! They ordered a vegetarian burger for me (I didn’t even know McDonalds had vegetarian burgers) and I ate a little less than the whole burger and sipped on some coke (so thristy from all that kissing, haha). I got home and took a shower (I had makeup all over my arms, face and in my hair!), had an apple for an evening snack and told mom all about my adventures in filmland. She’d bought me a new tea that she gave me when I got home.

New tea! Tripple Ginseng. Yum!

New tea! Tripple Ginseng. Yum!

Then yesterday, Thursday, I had my regular eats for breakfast and lunch. Got in a good forty minute bikeride during the day (took a day off from the gym) and then had my huge salad for dinner. Afterwards things went a little… crazy with food and I snacked my little heart out all yesterday eveing. So let’s not talk about that anymore.

Now, TODAY!

10:25am Breakfast. Soy yoghurt with ground flaxseed, a kiwi and two little passionfruits!

10:25am Breakfast. Soy yoghurt with ground flaxseed, a kiwi and two little passionfruits!

Had my regular breakfast but added in some passion fruit. Nom nom. Looks a little messy but it was good. A little too much crunch from the passion fruit seeds though, but whatevuh. After breakfast mom and I packed a picnic and headed out. The sun has been shining like there’s no tomorrow for days now. THANK YOU, FINALLY. I love it! Mom and I took our bikes and rode around to find a good picnic-spot and then sat ourselves down to soak in the sun for a bit, enjoy the breeze and water. Then these little adorable creatures came swimming along.

Momma duck came with six little baby ducks. So adorable!

Mom and I made sure to throw them breadcrumbs from our lunches. I’d packed my usual.

A not so flattering picture of my tofu wrap and apple.

Once we felt we’d got enough sunshine we biked on over to the grocery store to stock up on the biggest staples in our household – fruits and veggies! We also each got an ice cream (that I forgot to take a picture of!) I had one called Tip Top (that looks like this). Not my favorite but it was a nice treat on a hot sunny day!

After our ice cream affair we got home and I jumped into my workout gear and headed down to the gym for an hour. I did 32 minutes on the treadmill (4.68km at various speeds and inclines). And it felt so awesome! I felt like I ran so much better than normally. It was easier and more enjoyable somehow. I loved it! I also did various arm exercises (for surfing) and got home and did 150 crunches (plan on doing another 50 or 100 later this evening). Took a shower when I got home and then made dinnuh!

6:15pm Dinner. Huuuuge salad! In the mix: mixed lettuce, carrot, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, steamed broccoli, veggie burger and mango cucumber salsa.

Now I’m about to make a cup of tea and see if there’s anything good on TV this evening. I have like a million things I’d like to tell you all but this post is already majuh long so I’ll have to keep telling you more later.

Question of the day: What role would you like to play in a movie and with what actor/actress?
I would love to be in a big movie some day, a lead roll (oh but of course!) and I’d love to work with someone amazing like Johnny Depp (no, not only because he’s gorgeous but because he’s such a talented actor). But while we’re on the subject of hotness… I’d like to do a scene where I’m Robert Pattinson’s girlfriend and the movie’s all about how much we love eachother and make out all the time. Thankyouplease.

That’s all for now folks!

One day closer to surf camp!

Wassup, wassup! One day closer to surf camp and the butterflies are definitely fluttering in my stomach. Thanks for the comments I got in the last post with your tips. My biggest worry is that I’m going to get my butt kicked by the waves on the first day and wake up in so much pain the next day and end up having to spend the rest of the week in bed! I hope the surfcoaches will go easy on me and just let me lounge on the beach if I’m too pooped to keep hitting up the waves.

No worries though, I am working on my exercise program and have done a good amount of exercise today. Lemme tell you about today.

I woke up and had breakfast.

9:35am Breakfast. Switched things up a bit today and chopped a nectarine into my soy yoghurt and ground flaxseed. Had a nice slice of cantaloupe on the side and my organic green tea.

After breakfast I was out the door and on my bike to go to the bank to pay for my surf camp-trip and then to the mall to look for a bikini at the sports store that is having a great sale right now. I found a faaab bikini and even got an extra bottom piece for free (the offer was buy two get one free!), I got a solid black bottom that I can switch up with my other bikinis.

Now picture me surfing in this!

Now picture me surfing in this!

After the mall I biked on over to the grocery store to pick up some things and then headed back home to bathe in the sun for a bit and then make myself some lunch.

2:05pm Lunch. All together now - a wraaap! With Tofutti cream cheese, iceberg lettuce, cucumber and tofu. An a crisp green apple on the side. Plus a protein shake in the back!

After lunch I lounged in the sun again for a while to let my food digest, and then I went to the gym! Yup, that’s right! Now, let me just break this fabulousness down for you – included in the fantastic surf trip-package is a month free membership at a gym that just so happens to be like 5 minutes (walk) from where I live! How awesome is that!? Totally awesome! So I made sure to get right on that deal and went to the gym to do my training program today.

I started by powerwalking/running on the treadmill for about 25 minutes and 3.5 km (wow, impressive! not.) to warm up and then I did a bunch of arm exercises before calling it a day! I spent about an hour in the gym. Then I headed home and made dinner. For once, I knew exactly what I wanted.

5:10pm Dinner. A Hugh Jass again! This salad is so good! In the salad today: a mix of greens, carrot, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, green bell pepper, steamed broccoli, spinach topped off with a veggie burger and some of my mango cucumber salsa. Mmmyum.

After dinner I just chilled in front of the TV for a bit, did my standard daily 100 crunches and then made an evening snack.

8pm Evening snack. Two carob covered rice crackers and a really yummy and pretty apple. And a cup of bluberry tea.

Remember I told you guys I got that part in a TV series where I’m supposed to “be dead”? Well, it’s tomorrow! Don’t worry though, they said they’ve made sure there won’t be other dead bodies in the morgue at the same time as me (they originally said there would be other dead bodies in there with me!) It’s tomorrow afternoon and it’s two different scenes. In the one I am in a hospital being revived and in the other scene I am in the morgue “dead”. I’m excited for it!

I want to try to get to the gym tomorrow morning though before I need to head to the shooting location so I’m hitting the sack soon. I’m totally exhausted after the running around I’ve done today and my head is hurting a little bit too. Boo.

If you haven’t already, give me any and all tips you have about surfing, pretty please!
